Just Plain Old Stupid Happy

I have learned a lot from my son. He should be proud of the mother he is raising.

The latest installment of toddler wisdom comes from watching my son on his bike. A few nights ago, we took a family stroll along the boardwalk. Of course, he rode his bike. My husband and I walked hand in hand behind him as the sun went down over the Manhattan skyline, and giggled as we listened to him singing a little song and peddling his little heart out. He was just plain old stupid happy. Everything was right.

When I first met my husband, I described myself and us together as just plain old stupid happy. We were. And we are. It was just so delightful to be reminded about how wonderful things are.

Leif has taught me to just let go and sing a crazy song. And to recognize and rest in the fact that you are happy. Even when things around you seem to be working against that.
